Yesterday was very hot, the door was closed and I forgot to open a window aswell. 

Resulted to high temperatures in all of my 4 quarantine tanks and low oxygen in water.

Unfortunately in a populated tank with 7 anthias, a midas belenny and a small yellow tang my efforts to bring down temperature failed and I lost the belenny and the yellow tang 😔

My bad luck/stupidity continues with the yellow tangs.

All quarantine aquariums are in a small room and because of a 2 years old daughter we close the door usually.
My mind was somewhere else yesterday (I lost my cousin aswell ) and totally forgot that the room facing south can get hot pretty fast.

Thanks. Mine sits 20 cm off bottom on plexi stand. I did this on previous tank as well. Water is forced through fleese due to gravity. Fleese will last longer. My roll was new on Sunday. I will let you know how long it lasts.

Yes. It was less.
I had to turn my lights from 75% *set by Seneye) to 100% (set by Apogee) to get 300-350 PAR
Apogee MQ-510 is made for LED underwater measurement so I will go with this (raising from 75 to 100% in 30 days) and see if my corals like it or not. They are not doing good now but I suspect other factors are in play than light for my STN problem.

Tested the water after one week vacation 

Alkalinity 8.0 dkh 

Nitrate 7.9 ppm

Phosphorus 4 ppb

 

Nitrate came down from 14 to 8 in 2 weeks.

Phosphorus was 0. Had to dose phosphate for few days...raised it to 7 before my vacation last week and now its 4 ppb (0.012 ppm)

Alkalinity came down from 9.1 to 8 in a week 

 

Tomorrow Trident and DOS will arrive so I will have it hooked up to Apex. 

Also planning to experiment with kalkwasser 🤔

 

 

Last night some more toys arrived and I started to make a place for Trident underneath the aquarium in a very tight spot...hopefully will hold 😬

I ordered and received Deltec kalkwasser mixer but didn't like the quality so I returned it and ordered one from Reef Octopus...

Much better built and easier to use...it is not connected yet since I had no time this weekend...hopefully I will do it by the end of this week 😀 

Well I manage to take an extra line from RO/DI reservoir under the stairs and make a small station for kalkwasser stirrer...

For now dosing 1 liter per day seems to be enough to keep alkalinity at 9 dkh.
